FRENCH PRESIDENT URGES RUSSIA TO BOOST CO-OPERATIO IN FIGHTING TERRORISM

Samuel Paty, 47, a well liked teacher in France was killed for showing controversial cartoons of Prophet Mohammad by one Abdullakh Anzorov, an 18-year-old ethnic Chechen. Following this, Anzorov was shot dead by the police in the North West of the French capital. This brutal murder has shocked entire France and induced deep divisions.
Anzorov was born in Moscow but had lived in France since 2008. His family is from Russia’s Muslim-majority Chechnya region in the North Caucasus
French President Emmanuel Macron , on his Tuesday phone call with Russian President Vladamir Putin has called for co-operation between the two governments in this time of crisis.
Mr Macron said he wanted to see a “strengthening of Franco-Russian co-operation in the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration”
Meanwhile, the Kremlin published a brief statement quoting Mr Putin as saying that both parties “reaffirmed their mutual interest in intensifying joint efforts in the fight against terrorism and the propagation of extremist ideology”.
