The Indian Air Force will be getting 16 more Rafale jet fighters by April 2021. Previously, 5 Rafale jets flew to the Ambala airbase via Abu Dhabi on July 29.
The next batch of Rafale is set to arrive in Ambala on November 5 directly from Bordeaux-Merignac facility according to senior government officials.
Three more Rafales will arrive in January, three more in March and a total of seven in April. In total the number of Rafale fighters acquired by the IAF will be 21 single seated fighters and 7 twin-seated trainer fighters.
All the fighters will be equipped with Mica and Meteor air to air missiles along with Scalp air to ground cruise missiles. The Indian government has requested Safran for the M-88 engines which will be used by the Rafale fighters.
