KERALA: FAMILY DONATES MAN’S ORGANS, HELPS 5 PEOPLE GET NEW LEASE ON LIFE

An act of kindness and generosity by a Kerala-based family have helped 5 other suffering people to get a new lease on life.

After 37-year-old selfless social worker T.Byju was reportedly declared brain-dead on August 22 and passed away soon, his family decided to carry on his legacy of selfless service to the society by donating his organs to the needy.

Byju’s organs have helped a 56-year-old patient Babu who was undergoing treatment under Dr George K Ninan for the past 9 years and was on the waiting list of Mrithasanjeevani, a Government of Kerala initiative for organ donations, for past 5.5 years and have so far undergone 860 dialysis procedures till now.

Another patient,44-year-old Sindu,of Dr Aby P Abraham, and had been waiting for a donor since 2013, when she was diagnosed with kidney ailments.She too was helped by Byju’s family.

The kidneys were transplanted at VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi, on August 23. Babu and Sindu were discharged on September 5 and 8 respectively.

Such acts of kindness is appreciated by the society.Both the patient’s families are highly thankful to Byju’s family and have praised them for such humanity.
