MEGHALAYA CHIEF MINISTER’S HOME ATTACKED; PETROL BOMBS HURLED

On Sunday, Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma residence was attacked by petrol bombs. So far no damage has been reported.

At the minister’s personal residence in Laimer, vechicle borne attackers lobbed two Molotov cocktail bottles. The first bottle was hurled at the front part of the house while the second one was thrown behind the backyard.

On Sunday, the situation on Meghalaya turned violent, following the death of Chesterfield Thangkhiew, former leader of banned militant group HNLC.

Chesterfield Thangkhiew who had surrendered in 2018.

On August 13, when he allegedly tried attack a police te with a knife during a raid at his house in connection with a series of IED blasts in the state.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government imposed curfew in Shillong Agglomeration, in view of the violence and arson that rocked the state on Independence Day.

Internet service have been suspended in four districts for 48 hours on Sunday.
