Days after getting arrested for allegedly issuing threats against cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s family from Mundra in Gujarat, the 16-year-old teenager has been brought to Ranchi for further interrogation on Thursday.
Dhoni’s five-year-old old daughter Ziva Dhoni was targeted by trolls in the wake of Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 13.
In the aftermath of the shocking incident, a 16-year-old boy was nabbed by the Gujarat Police after it was alleged that the minor has issued rape threats to Dhoni’s daughter on his wife Sakshi Dhoni’s Instagram account.
Taking cognisance of the incident that has sparked outrage on social media, Kutch (West) Superintendent of Police Saurabh Singh had earlier asserted that the class 12 student was detained for questioning in connection with a ‘disgusting’ threat message that was posted on the Instagram account of Dhoni’s wife.
According to a report filed by India Today, it has been learned that the minor was brought to Ranchi on Thursday following a transit remand from the state of Gujarat. The 16-year-old was taken to Sadar Hospital for a mandatory COVID-19 test. The report added that the local police is expected to continue its interrogation in the coming days. During the initial stages of the probe, the minor will stay at a child rehabilitation center.
