MIZORAM GOVERNMENT REASSURES DRIVERS, VEHICLES COMING FROM ASSAM TO BE SAFE

On Monday the Mizoram government expressed that amid the border tensions between Mizoram and Assam, it regrets the denying of access to the vehicles carrying goods from Assam and re assures all the stakeholders that drivers and vehicles coming from the neighbouring are nothing but safe.

In a notice issued by the Home Department of Mizoram, the stage government said that the act of denying access to vehicles past the border is against the interest of every stakeholder and therefore, harms the same.

“Mizoram government regrets to view that goods carrying vehicles have stopped entering the state from Assam since the 16th of October for unknown reasons. This harms the interest of every stake holder”, the notice said.

Sarbananda Sonowal, the chief minister of Assam has been said to inform Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah about the tensions in the Mizo – Assam border over phone. In a series of tweets, Sonowal said that both the leaders lent their support to resolve tensions amicably.
