NIA RAIDS MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN KASHMIR IN RELATION TO TERROR FUNDING CASES

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided across multiple locations in Srinagar on Wednesday, including the office of Greater Kashmir newspaper in connection with ‘unaccounted funding’.

The residence of Human Rights activist, Khurram Parvez in Sonwar and offices of NGO Athrout have also been raided by the NIA. In 2016, Khurram Parvez was arrested from his home in Srinagar. The arrest had sparked controversy as he was detained without any formal arrest warrant. He was detained for 76 days even after a sessions court ordered his release as he was re-arrested under Public Safety Act.

The NIA has registered a new case to probe into the fund raising activities of the NGO – who are funding them and where the funds are being channelized to. The officials said that these NGOs have been alleged with Hawala Racket, misappropriation of funds and terror funding.
