In response to French President Emmanuel Macron’s contoversial remarks about cartoons of Prophet Mohammad, Pakistan’s Parliament on Monday passed a resolution unanimously to recall its envoy from Paris.
However, what the Pakistani parliamentary assembly forgot about is that it has no ambassador posted in Paris currently as the previous ambassador Moin-ul-Haq left France three months ago after being transferred to China. Since then Pakistan hasn’t appointed any ambassador in France.
The decision to recall the envoy came after the French ambassador to Islamabad was summoned to the foreign office for Pakistan to register its protest.
The French President’s actions after the French teacher’s beheading incident has been heavily criticised by the Muslim world. Turkey’s leaders have called for a widespread boycott of French goods and has even went on to question French President’s mental health.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier slammed French President for attacking Islam by encouraging the display of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
