Oil marketing companies kept the rates of petrol and diesel unchanged at existing levels on Friday, a day after the price of diesel was cut for the first time in nearly six months. In Delhi, the prices of petrol and diesel remained at ₹ 82.08 per litre and ₹ 73.40 per litre respectively, according to notifications by state-run Indian Oil Corporation. In Mumbai, the price of petrol stood at ₹ 88.73 per litre and diesel at ₹ 79.94 per litre, the same levels as Thursday, according to Indian Oil, the country’s largest fuel retailer. Currently, Indian Oil and two other state-run oil marketing companies, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, which account for the majority of fuel stations in the country, review the petrol and diesel rates in various parts of the country on a daily basis.Oil marketing companies revise petrol and diesel prices from time to time, to align them with global crude oil rates and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Any changes are implemented at fuel stations with effect from 6 am.
