TALIBAN TO RENAME AFGHANISTAN AS ‘ISLAMIC EMIRATE OF AFGHANISTAN’

An official part of the militant group said Taliban will soon declare the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ from the presidential palace, a return rich in symbolism of the name of the country under the Taliban government ousted by US-led forces after the 9/11 attacks.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the official said that it was the name of the country under the Taliban government ousted by US-led forces after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

The Taliban has warned government employees in Afghanistan to return the way they were 20 years ago under Taliban rule.

The officials said, “Make a fresh start. Beware of bribery, embezzlement, arrogance, corruption, laziness and indifference.”

The Al-Jazeera news network is airing footage of a large group of Taliban fighters inside the presidential palace.
