The 6-month long and enduring wait for die hard cricket fans across the globe is finally over as the thirteenth edition of Indian Premier League will get underway in the United Arab Emirates from today with defending champions Mumbai Indians locking horns with Chennai Super Kings.
The thirteenth edition of the IPL will be a first of sorts as it will be for the first time that the league will be held without spectators in the stadium and behind closed doors amid the persistent threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.
All the matches will be played under a bio secure bubble with all team members required to strictly adhere to the social distancing norms during their training, lodging and through the course of the tournament.
The thirteenth edition of the IPL will be played out from September 19 to November 10. The grand finale of the IPL 13 will be played on November 10. A total of 24 matches will be held in Dubai, 20 in Abu Dhabi and 12 in Sharjah.
Just like past years, Star Sports is the official broadcaster for the IPL matches. Disney+ Hotstar, on the other hand, has been titled the “official digital streaming partner” for the tournament in India.
