TRIPURA: JOURNALISTS WEAR BLACK BADGES TO PROTEST AGAINST COMMENTS BY CM

In a recent incident, journalist in Tripura wore black badges in order to mark teir protests against the comments made by the CM Biplab Deb.

The CM while attending a program at Sabroom, while he laid the foundation of the Special Economic Zone on 11 September, spoke about how media personalities spread fake news about Covid and hence scare the citizens. He said,” A few newspapers and journalists are getting overexcited and confusing the people of Tripura.History will not forgive them.I will not forgive them,and neither will the people of Tripura.History will remain witness to it.”

Following his comments had infuriated the media personalities of the state and hence the The Tripura Assembly of Journalists chairman Subal Kumar Dey has asked the CM to take his words back. He even said that, “We as media persons carry out our duty on behalf of the people.But our right to freedom and expression are being trampled in the last 30 months, unlike even the Emergency.”
